We run all our surgeries with an appointment only system. Over one third of GP appointments are pre-bookable appointments, these can be booked up to 5 weeks in advance. The remaining appointments can be booked on the day by ringing at 08:30. 

We also offer pre-bookable telephone appointments for patients who do not need to be examined but would just like to talk to a doctor, e.g. to discuss medication, test/hospital results etc.

We try to make sure you see the doctor of your choice but if they are not available we may ask you to see another doctor.

We offer an urgent "sit and wait" drop in clinic every morning between 08:30 and 11:30.  No need to phone ahead.  If you need to see a doctor urgently then just turn up and report to Reception.  The Receptionist will then add your name to the screen.  Please note this is for urgent matters only and not for repeat prescriptions, sick notes or long-standing problems.  We cannot guarantee which Clinician you will see.

This service is temporarily suspended due to the Covid-19 Pandemic - all patients need to ring in for an appointment request and not turn up at the surgery without a pre-booked slot.  Thank you

Occasionally we teach medical students and sometimes you may be asked to see the doctor or nurse with a student present.

You will always be asked beforehand if this is acceptable and you may ask for the student to withdraw if you prefer to have your consultation in private.

We have some evening appointments available each day for patients who are unable to attend during our normal opening hours and one of our doctors sees patients from 08:10.

Improved Access to General Practice (IAGP)

We are participating in a national initiative to offer evening and weekend appointments to make it easier for you to see a doctor, nurse or other healthcare professional at this GP practice.  As from July 2018 we started live with this, we work with Lostwithiel and Fowey River Practice and between the 3 surgeries, known as The Three Harbours offer evening routine appointments to see a GP until 8pm and Saturday and Sundays with a GP.  Please contact us by phone for details on how to book an evening or Saturday appointment.

If possible please try to telephone reception before 10:00 if you require a home visit.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed.

You can be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.

It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.

You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance. (excluding weekends and public holidays). You can also text to cancel your appointment.

We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.

To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.
